'Allow students to take part in #Tangkap MO1 rally'

Pakatan Harapan Youth wants the government, police, and universities to allow students and youths to voice out their views by participating in the #TangkapMalaysianOfficial1 rally.
Pakatan Harapan Youth, in a joint press conference today, said that it decided to state its solidarity for the rally – set for August 27 - due to the "need to save Malaysia”.
“As such, Pakatan Harapan Youth will mobilise our machinery for the rally,” said Amanah Youth chief Mohd Sany Hamzan, reading the joint statement.
It also pointed out how students are the 'third force', in that they are free from political interests.
“Therefore, their views should not only be heard, but recognised as suggestions for the ruling government (to consider)."
Meanwhile, asked about Pakatan Harapan Youth’s plans to attract more Malaysians to join the rally, PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said they will invite all party members to take part in the rally.
“I think it will gain momentum in the next few days,” he opined.
DAP Youth chief Wong Kah Woh also said that it was too early to confirm whether the response to the rally has been lukewarm or otherwise.
“We still have about two weeks from now. To mobilise for a rally in the next two weeks is something (that is) possible," he said.
Pakatan Harapan Youth, however, is undecided whether transportation would be provided to encourage participants from out of state.
“We will discuss with our party machinery on the ground. Normally they come on their own,” said Nik Nazmi.
Earlier this month, a coalition of youth and student groups announced efforts to mobilise the #TangkapMalaysianOfficial1 campaign set to be held in Kuala Lumpur.
The groups were referring to the individual identified as 'Malaysian Official 1' in the United States Department of Justice's civil suit to recover billions of assets linked to state-investor 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Group spokesperson Anis Syariah Mohd Yusuf had said that their campaign was to put pressure on local authorities to arrest and charge Malaysian Official 1.

In the DOJ report, there were also 36 references made to Malaysian Official 1 who had allegedly received US$731 million in funds siphoned from 1MDB.
Critics claimed it was clear, from the details of the report, that Malaysian Official 1 could only refer to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
However, Najib and his supporters have insisted that no assumptions should be made on the matter. - Mkini
