RM90m row: PAS to sue Sarawak Report in UK court

Islamic party PAS said it will file legal proceedings against whistleblower website Sarawak Report within a month over an article which claimed that its leaders received RM90 million in political contributions in return for turning its back on former opposition allies.
Party president Abdul Hadi Awang said that the party will file the lawsuit in the United Kingdom.
"We have decided to bring the case to UK courts as we understand that the media (Sarawak Report) is based there.
"We know a senior lawyer, a Queen's Council, who had dealt with us on a previous case.
"(It will be done) at the soonest, within one month," said Hadi at a press conference at party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
On Monday, PAS lambasted Sarawak Report for an article posted on the site which alleged that the Islamic party's leadership had received RM90 million from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
This was allegedly in return for the party not to work with the Pakatan Harapan opposition coalition.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and deputy murshidul am Ahmad Yakob was reported to have said that the party would take legal action against the website for the article it considers ill-intentioned, and smears the good name of the party.
In a commentary on Aug 6, Sarawak Report claimed:
“He (Najib) has gone on to ‘woo’ the PAS Islamic party away from the opposition coalition in the normal way he woos - RM90 million is widely reckoned to have flowed into the top echelons of PAS in recent months.”
Though its editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown later clarified that the report clearly stated that this was what was "widely reckoned", and not something that it claimed to have happened. - Mkini
