Incensed with a letter of demand sent to him by pro-electoral reform NGO Bersih, red-shirt leader Jamal Md Yunos tore the document and flushed it down a toilet, calling it filth.
The letter of demand from Bersih asked that Jamal apologise within 48 hours for alleging that the movement had been infiltrated by Islamic State and intends to use the Bersih 5 rally to topple the government.
"I see this summons as filth," he said while tearing and flushing down the legal document.
Earlier, Jamal had called for a press conference at the Selangor Umno building in Shah Alam at around 4.45pm.
However, as soon as reporters arrived at the building, he led them to a nearby lavatory where he proceeded to shred the legal document and throw pieces of it into the toilet bowl.
Bersih's lawyer Melissa Sasidaran said that the firm Daim & Gamany issued the letter which was faxed to Jamal's office earlier today.
Jamal had made the allegations against Bersih at a press conference on Sep 28 and again yesterday when he lodged a police report over the matter.
Commenting further, Jamal said that he would never apologise to Bersih, instead promising to be more aggressive against the NGO in the future.
"Not only will I not apologise, but I think that her letter is like filth.
"Whatever provocations that they do, we the red shirt that fights for democracy will ever be there to oppose them. Wherever they appear we will follow. We will fight them.
"Maybe our ways and means will be more aggressive than before. I want to remind the yellow shirts to respect the law," said Jamal, referring to the iconic yellow that Bersih protesters wear.
Asked about PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli's statement that he neither knew Jamal not gave him any information, the red shirt leader accused the Pandan parliamentarian of slander.
"He is truly a slanderer. Even in his statements we know that this is what he is saying," said Jamal, insisting that he will continue to defend his allegations as he believes that his information is from solid sources.
"Let the police investigate. I am confident that what I got is true, from their own internal sources," he said.-Mkini
