Federal CID director Huzir Mohamed said that Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz will only be released on bail today, when police have completed their investigations.
“(He will be released) when the current stage of investigations is completed today,” Huzir (photo, above) said when contacted by Malaysiakini.
Haziq was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday in relation to his confession to allegedly being one of two men featured in leaked sex video clips implicating Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Haziq's intended destination was Manila.
Haziq’s lawyers revealed their client is expected to be released on police bail today.
“We were informed by ASP Khairul (the investigating officer) that our client was taken to Balai Batu 9 Cheras and he is in Kuala Lumpur Hospital now.
"According to the investigating officer, he (Haziq) won’t be remanded and will be given police bail,” said lawyers Ramesh Sivakumar, Sivahnanthan Ragava, Afiqah Abdul Latiff and Goik Kenzin today.
It was reported that Haziq, an aide to a deputy minister, is being investigated under four laws, including Section 377B of the Penal Code for “carnal intercourse against the order of nature” and Section 292 for distribution of obscene materials.
Meanwhile, Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, has denied all allegations and posted online today that the “truth shall prevail”. - Mkini
