Husam subpoenas Kelantan MB, exco in Air Kelantan lawsuit

Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob and an exco have been subpoenaed to testify in the Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) lawsuit against state Pakatan Harapan chairperson Husam Musa.
Husam filed the subpoena bid this morning to compel Ahmad and state industry, commerce, investment and entrepreneurship development exco Hanifa Ahmad – who also chairs AKSB – to testify in the lawsuit.
Husam told Malaysiakini that the trial is scheduled to last from today to June 19 at the Kota Bharu High Court.
"I submitted this subpoena so that both of them could present evidence in this case.
"I hope Ahmad and Hanifa (centre in photo) will be present, and we can see what the menteri besar has to say in court," said the Amanah vice-president.
However, Ahmad confirmed that he will challenge the subpoena bid.
"I have asked my lawyer to dismiss the subpoena. I should not have been subpoenaed in the first place.
"Furthermore, there is a state assembly meeting today," he said when met at the Kelantan Legislative Assembly in Kota Bharu.
Ahmad's press secretary Ahmad Ubaidillah Alis had earlier said that the menteri besar would not be present at court in the case trial, as it only involves state legal advisors and AKSB.
AKSB, a company under Perbadanan Menteri Besar Kelantan, filed a lawsuit against Husam for claiming that it had awarded the first package of phase 11 of the Merbau Condong water supply project to Cdah Construction Jangka Prestasi JV, on Jan 22, 2015 – two months before the joint venture company was registered with the Companies Commission.
According to Husam, the company was only registered on March 9, 2015.
Hanifa, in his capacity as AKSB chairperson, rebutted Husam at the time, claiming that Cdah Construction and Jangka Prestasi were only awarded the project after having gone through the necessary tender evaluation.
Husam, the former Salor assemblyperson, called on the Kelantan government to clarify the RM27.1 million project tender. - Mkini
