MPs warned against raising sex video controversy in Parliament

Dewan Rakyat speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof says he will take action against any MP who raises the issue of the gay sex video clips implicating a minister.
KUALA LUMPUR: MPs were today warned against raising any issue regarding the gay sex clips implicating a minister in the coming Parliament sitting.
Dewan Rakyat speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof said it is against Parliament rules to raise or discuss issues that are still being investigated by the police.
“Such issues can’t be raised during the Parliament sitting as it could affect the investigation process.
“It is premature to think of raising (the issue),” he told reporters on the sidelines of the 10th Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly here.
This follows the shock confession last week of PKR Youth leader Haziq Aziz that he was one of two individuals caught on camera performing homosexual acts.
Haziq also named Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali as the second person in the clips which went viral on social media. Azmin strongly denied the claim and has threatened to take legal action.
Ariff said it is best to leave the authorities to investigate the issue.
“There would be an element of prejudice, and we won’t allow that,” he added.
He also said he would not hesitate to take action against any MP who raises the issue, according to parliamentary rules. - FMT
