In Penang, Azmin continues to prod PKR leadership on sex videos

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has continued to prod his party's leadership over sex videos implicating him.
The economic affairs minister, who had questioned how the perpetrators of the video obtained the contact number of PKR members to circulate the video during a Hari Raya open house in Selangor this morning, continued to hammer on the same message in Penang this afternoon.
At an Aidilfitri open house in Seberang Jaya today, Azmin was asked if the viralised videos were an internal or external plot to topple him.
Azmin replied: "I do not want to speculate".
However, he went on to say that the "evidence adduced from the public forum warrants an explanation from the leadership".
Azmin was also asked if he could trust the PKR leadership to carry out an unbias investigation into his case as the scandal has revealed a deep internal rift within the party.
"If the party likes to remain relevant, we have to be transparent," he said.
On June 12, Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz shocked the nation when he confessed to being one of the men shown in the video.
Azmin, who was accused of being in bed with Haziq (below), denied he was involved, saying that the expose was a "nefarious plot" to undermine his political career.
Meanwhile, Azmin has expressed similar views with DAP senior leader Lim Kit Siang that the sex video implicating him would destroy Pakatan Harapan.
The minister said any quarters who indulge in gutter politics to kill off his or her political rivals would invite the mistrust of the rakyat.
"If anyone, be it in or out of Pakatan Harapan, resort to the gutter and dirty politics, it will surely cause trust issues among the voters," said Azmin.
A large crowd attended the event, hosted by Penang executive councillor and Seberang Jaya assemblyperson Dr Afif Bahardin.
Also present were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Deputy Chief Minister I Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman.
Several senior PKR leaders and members of the public jostled to get a photo with Azmin, who arrived at the party about 4.30pm, wearing a blue batik shirt.
He was earlier responding to Lim, who cautioned his Harapan colleagues that the sex video scandal could derail the New Malaysia agenda.
The DAP supremo said it was no doubt that the sex video is the greatest challenge to Harapan since the 14th general election.
Azmin said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed had strongly condemned the issue and urged all quarters to desist from repeating the claims.
"This is a new government, we must continue to work hard for the rakyat who had given us a mandate, unprecedented, in the last election. We must do what is best for the people, " Azmin said. - Mkini
