PETALING JAYA: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has set up a new think tank dedicated to centrist views.
In an Instagram post, the Rembau MP announced the think tank, to be called The Centre, would begin operations in July.
“In a highly polarised world (Umno Youth vice-chief) Shahril Hamdan and I believe that we need to expand the room for discourse in the centre to counter views from the loud ends of the political centre.
“We want public policy to be evidence-based, rational and innovative,” he said, adding they believed there was a role for both the state and markets.
Khairy, an Oxford University graduate, served as the former youth and sports minister under the previous Barisan Nasional administration.
Shahril, who graduated from the London School of Economics, is involved in the oil and gas industry. - FMT
