PUTRAJAYA: Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik denies that his deputy Teo Nie Ching is getting involved in Islamic education matters.
"She only shared on her Facebook page what is on the Education Ministry's website," he told reporters after the ministry's Hari Raya Open House on Thursday (June 20).
He said Teo's post contained a link to the National Education Advisory Council's survey asking for feedback on the Islamic Education syllabus in schools.
The post reportedly invited all Malaysians to provide feedback on how to improve the Islamic studies subject in primary schools.
Teo, a DAP Member of Parliament, posted about the survey on Monday (June 17).
Maszlee said people took a screenshot of the post and created "fake news" that she was sticking her nose into Islamic Education affairs.

The post has since been taken down, and on Tuesday (June 18), Teo posted an explanation as to why she shared survey.
She said she was only sharing the efforts of the council and was disappointed that her actions were taken out of context.
She added that the allegations were baseless and "slander against the council's credibility".- Star
