NAJIB TRIAL : Day 26: SRC chairperson faces another day of grilling

Former SRC International chairperson Ismee Ismail will resume being cross-examined on the 26th day of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's RM42 million SRC International trial today.
When proceedings before Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali begins at 9am this morning, 39th witness Ismee would have entered the sixth day he had taken the stand since Monday last week.
Over the bulk of days spent in the witness stand, Ismee was grilled by lawyer Harvinderjit Singh over the role of then SRC International chief executive officer Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil in allegedly having misrepresented to the company's board of directors (BOD) over material matters linked to the first tranche of RM2 billion loan to the company by Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) in late 2011.
On Friday last week, Ismee was questioned by Harvinderjit over whether Nik Faisal, who is now missing and sought by the authorities over the 1MDB probe, had misrepresented to the BOD over who had made the decision over the transfer of full ownership of SRC International from 1MDB to the Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc) in early 2012.
The lawyer's questioning had focused on whether Nik Faisal had claimed to the BOD that the proposed ownership transfer had allegedly received the greenlight from then minister in the prime minister's department Nor Mohamed Yakcop, who was also in charge of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).
Ismee was also questioned over the disbursement of the first tranche of the RM2 billion loan, with RM1.8 billion sent out for overseas investment while RM200 million stayed in Malaysia.
However, based on previous testimonies of bankers, among others, the prosecution's case for Najib's alleged abuse of power, graft, and money laundering of RM42 million from SRC International only involved the testified money trail from the second tranche of RM2 billion loan from KWAP to SRC International in March 2012. - Mkini
