PETALING JAYA: Naza Group said the transaction involving funds allegedly from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) were for four cars from a brand that it no longer distributes.
The Naza Group was among the 41 parties in a civil forfeiture suit filed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said to be recipients of 1MDB funds from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's personal account.
"Naza Quest Auto Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Naza Group, was the sole distributor for Chevrolet cars under an agreement with General Motors (GM) which ceased operation of distributing Chevrolet cars on 14 November 2018.
"MACC's civil forfeiture application filed against Naza Quest Auto Sdn Bhd is related to two transactions.
"The first transaction was RM105,000 on Dec 17, 2012, for the purchase of two Chevrolet cars and the second transaction was RM164,662 on Dec 9, 2013, for the purchase of two more Chevrolet cars.
"The Naza Group will cooperate with the authorities to provide necessary assistance in relation to this matter," said a spokesperson for Naza Group in a statement on Friday (June 21).
"The first transaction was RM105,000 on Dec 17, 2012, for the purchase of two Chevrolet cars and the second transaction was RM164,662 on Dec 9, 2013, for the purchase of two more Chevrolet cars.

MACC announced Friday that it had filed civil forfeiture action against 41 recipients and entities to recover RM270mil related to 1MDB from Najib's personal account.- Star
