Police will question Hilman Idham (photo, above), the political secretary to Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, in connection with the sex video scandal allegedly implicating the minister.
Hilman previously lodged a police report refuting the allegations as libel and slander.
“I will give my statement at the Sepang district police headquarters this Monday (June 17) at 10am.
“This is in connection with the police report I lodged in response to Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz’s fake report,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted today.
Several videos of two men engaging in sexual activities have been circulated over the past few days.
Haziq, who is the Santubong PKR Youth chief, confessed to being one of the men in the video and claimed that his partner was Azmin.
He has since lodged a police report claiming his confession was true and that Hilman, on Azmin’s orders, had previously threatened him to lie about the sex videos.
The minister has denied involvement and characterised the scandal as a plot to destroy his political career.
'Let police do their job'
Met today at an event in Ampang, Azmin said that the police have yet to call him in for questioning.
“No (the police have not called me).
“[...] Let them (the police) do their job and do not intervene,” he said, adding that he was ready to assist the investigations.
Yesterday, police questioned Primary Industries Deputy Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin for five hours over the scandal.
Haziq had served as Shamsul’s private secretary before the sex videos broke.
He has since been suspended from his job and slapped with a show-cause letter by Shamsul. - Mkini
