Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has poured scorn on the release of sex videos purportedly featuring Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.
"I abhor this level of gutter politics," he told reporters at a dinner function at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam tonight.
"I think that this is one of the major reasons why some youths think that politics is despicable and choose to stay far from it.
"For young people, politics should be a battle of ideas and principles."
The political arena, Syed Saddiq said, should be about finding a way to move forward in the collective interest of the nation – not just about "sex, sex, sex and more sex."
"I think I am voicing the thoughts and aspirations of a lot of young people across the nation."
Syed Saddiq, who heads Bersatu Youth, also questioned the lengths taken to spread the video.
"They have got almost all the phone numbers of ministers, politicians, political secretaries and journalists. I don't know how. Even I don't have some of these numbers," he fumed.
"Whichever individual or group is behind this cannot have hit any lower."
Anonymous individuals released video clips implicating Azmin in a sex scandal early Tuesday. The minister has denied being one of the two men shown in the video.
Earlier today, Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, claimed to be the other.
