PELANGAI BY-ELECTION | A commotion erupted at Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Simpang Pelangai when a group of Najib Abdul Razak supporters staged a flash mob earlier tonight.
The incident occurred about 10.30pm when some 15 youths clad in white t-shirts emblazoned with the former prime minister's photo gathered in front of the ceramah venue, to the dismay of PN supporters.
Carrying a placard saying 'Ingat Jasa Najib' (remember Najib's contributions), the group showed up around the same time former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was finishing his speech to the some 1,000 people, during which Mahathir also spoke against Najib's corruption cases.
According to Bersatu Youth Information chief Ashraf Mustaqim Badrul Munir, who witnessed the incident, the group could have been affected by Mahathir's speech about Najib and wanted to show their protest when Mahathir was leaving the venue after his ceramah.
The group allegedly turned rowdy when some PN supporters asked them to leave the venue before they started to shove each other.
A group of police officers on standby at the location immediately intervened and separated the two groups before detaining the flash mob participants.
