KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian Shuib will not hesitate to relinquish his role as KK Mart ambassador if the convenience store is found guilty in the controversy surrounding the sale of socks bearing the word 'Allah' which is currently making headlines.

Shuib said that as a Muslim, he condemns the sale of socks bearing the word 'Allah' and deems it inappropriate.

"I always believe in 'rezeki' (sustenance). If there is no 'rezeki' for me, then there isn't. If there is sustenance for me, then there is. "However, regardless, I must maintain my stance that I am a Muslim," he said at the Indigital Music x FYP Media breaking fast event at a hotel here last night.

Shuib, who has been appointed as the KK Mart ambassador for the past four years and recently renewed his contract, considers the sale of socks bearing the word 'Allah' as despicable.

"What happened is very despicable. As a Muslim, I am deeply affected, and it should not happen in business or any situation.

"We will be angry because the issue of the word Allah is significant," he said.

Although bearing the responsibility as the KK Mart Ambassador, it is not a reason for Shuib, or his real name, Shahmira Muhammad, to remain neutral regarding the controversy.

However, Shuib must wait until the investigation is completed before taking further action regarding his contract as an ambassador.

"If it's true, I won't support it, I won't agree at all. This is my responsibility as a Muslim.

"This matter is still not settled, and an investigation is ongoing. So, I cannot comment further because it involves business and the sensitivity of the community.

"I will stand as a Muslim where if something is wrong, incorrect, and violates the rules, I will not support it," he said.

Recently, socks bearing the word Allah sold at KK Mart in Bandar Sunway went viral on social media after users uploaded images of the product.

Following that, there were calls to boycott the convenience store chain.

Last Wednesday, KK Super Mart & Superstore Sdn Bhd (KK Super Mart) reportedly apologised for the viral video and images related to the sale of Miranosock branded socks bearing the word Allah.

The company was reported to have said that the sale of the socks was immediately halted pending an explanation from the supplier.
