Stop provoking racial sentiments, work to protect harmony, says Aaron Ago

All parties have been told to refrain from engaging in any actions that may incite racial polemic that threatens the sensitivities of various racial groups, says Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

This was following Saturday's (March 30) Molotov cocktail attack on a KK Super Mart outlet in Sungai Isap, Kuantan.

The National Unity Minister said as responsible citizens it was the duty of all to protect the peace and harmony of the country.

"As responsible Malaysian citizens, it is our duty to uphold the peace and harmony of the nation by avoiding provocative acts and violence that may lead to conflict and unrest," he said in a statement posted on Facebook, on Sunday (March 31).

On Saturday (March 30), a second KK Mart convenience store was hit by a Molotov cocktail attack in Kuantan after the first one in Bidor was reported on March 26.

On Saturday, Kuantan police chief Asst Comm Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said an unknown individual had hurled a petrol bomb at the entrance to the store in Sungai Isap here at 5.14am.

The first petrol bomb incident was reported in Bidor, Perak, on March 26, but the petrol bomb, which hit the five-foot walkway in front of the shop, did not ignite.

On March 26, the Shah Alam Sessions Court charged KK Supermart & Superstore Sdn Bhd group founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr Chai Kee Kan and his wife, Datin Seri Loh Siew Mui, with two counts of wounding the religious feelings of others over the sale of the controversial socks.

The duo pleaded not guilty and claimed trial. - Star
