PETALING JAYA: The national defence system has been subjected to about 3,000 cyberattacks a day attempting to hack the system, defence minister Khaled Nordin said today.
“The number of attacks, carried out by various parties, rose after Malaysia stated its stand in the Palestinian issue,” he said after a Ramadan event at the army training centre in Ulu Tiram in Johor, Bernama reported.
He said should the hackers successfully obtain entry into our system, “they can spy and listen as well as monitor our movements and conversations on the Palestine issue and other matters”.
Khaled said the ministry would boost national security controls following the arrest of an Israeli man who had six pistols and 200 rounds of ammunition at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
The ministry was willing to help in the investigations, but internal security was a matter for the police, he said. - FMT
