Cops investigating teacher ‘grooming’ student viral case

 

The police have confirmed receiving a report over a secondary school teacher allegedly grooming her 17-year-old student.

Speaking to Malaysiakini today, Sepang district police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the case is still under investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” he said briefly.

Earlier, a relative of the alleged victim took to social media to vent her grievances over the case.

In a series of online postings, she said the student’s mother had lodged a police report, as well as a separate report to the District Education Office.

Even though the teacher was subsequently transferred to another school, the relative claimed it did not stop her from trying to keep in touch with the student.

According to the police report sighted by Malaysiakini, the duo secretly met up on a beach once.

The relative added that the student’s family is in distress as they are afraid that this “relationship” will affect the future of the teenager, who will be sitting for his SPM this year.

She also berated the teacher, who was said to be married with five children, for abusing her power as an educator.

However, the relative has since taken down the posts, which had gone viral.

Malaysiakini has contacted the student’s mother as well as the accused teacher for comments. - Mkini
