PETALING JAYA: Police have ordered a funfair in Kota Kinabalu to be shut down after a couple was thrown out of a ride there.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Zaidi Abdullah said the closure was for the funfair operators to guarantee the safety of all rides and attractions there, Sabah radio station Kupi-Kupi FM reported.
Police are probing the case under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangerment of life or personal safety.
“The two victims were thrown out of their seats while the ride was spinning and landed 15 metres away,” Zaidi said.
A 35-year-old man suffered injuries to the head and had to undergo surgery. The 29-year-old woman suffered injuries to her face.
“The ambulance took both victims to Queen Elizabeth II Hospital for treatment.”
The funfair was reportedly operating from 6pm to midnight daily and was supposed to operate from Feb 2 to March 10.
Several videos and pictures of the incident had gone viral on social media. - FMT
