More Padu counters listed open this week as deadline looms

More counters nationwide are open this week for the public to register themselves on the Central Database Hub (Padu) before the deadline on March 31.

Although the main mode of registration is via the Padu website, the government has opened counters to assist those unable to complete the online registration.

According to the Padu website, counters at all but one of 18 Urban Transformation Centres nationwide are open today and tomorrow, while half are open every day this week.

This is a marked improvement from last week when most were marked as “not opened” on the Padu website.

Similarly, more than 150 counters in “hotspots” across the nation are open today and several other days this week, compared to last week when the bulk was listed as “not opened”.

For example, last week, no Kuala Lumpur counter was listed as open last week on the Padu website, contradicting information published on the Federal Territories Department of Statistics Malaysia Facebook, which advertised a counter open at Bandar Tun Razak.

However, this has improved, with the website now listing 15 hotspot counters that opened at least once this week.

This includes the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Specialist Complex and Ambulatory Care Centre counter and PPR Beringin counters which are open Monday to Friday this week and Masjid Jamek Kuala Lumpur counter which is open this Saturday.

The majority of the 208 Pusat Ekonomi Digital (Pedi) and Pusat Sebaran Maklumat Nasional (Nadi) counters located nationwide are also listed to be open at least once this week.

18.5 percent registered

Padu is to function as a centralised database to ensure subsidies are better disbursed, taking into account not only take-home pay but also the individual or household’s financial obligations.

The government said those seeking to receive welfare aid and subsidies must ensure that their details are up to date in Padu.

As at yesterday, only 18.5 percent or 5.43 million of the 30.08 million individuals who should register their details in Padu have done so.

This includes children whose parents or guardians are meant to register the details on their behalf.

On Thursday night, that number stood at about 16 percent or 4.83 million people. - Mkini
