It was an unexpected SHOCK to read in the Media, about a long time Entity in the Industrial Sector...GOODYEAR, having DECIDED TO CLOSE ITS OPERATIONS IN MALAYSIA...
It MUST give us PAUSE to Understand WHY ...
THE GOVERNMENT MUST QUICKLY RESPOND to Such Developments...
It is said "A BIRD in HAND IS WORTH TWO in the BUSH "
WHILE TOUTING ABOUT the BILLIONS of "possible Investment , EXPECTATIONS , being MOOTED, and discussed...it is SO IMPORTANT that INDUSTRIAL and BUSINESS ENTITIES, which are ALREADY HERE, do NOT CLOSE SHOP...AND LEAVE for OTHER COUNTRIES!
We must NEVER rely upon the so called SIGNING of the so-called "MEMORANDUM of UNDERSTANDING "...MOU
We must ENSURE that there is actually a SERIOUS MEMORANDUM of UNDERTAKING...
with DETAILS ON eg... LOCATION OF THE Project
...PURCHASE or at least serious discussion on land acquisition
.....WHAT the PROJECT ENTAILS...eg ...STRUCTURE OF the WORKFORCE such as Managerial and Executive, Skilled Workers, unskilled workers...
....WHETHER the PRUDUCT is EXPORT ORIENTED or/and for DOMESTIC Market
... VOLUME and VALUE of Expected Sales, annually
...PLUS all other RELEVANT Information.
ONLY THEN can ANY MEMORANDUM OF UNDERTAKING be ACCEPTED and SIGNED...ESPECIALLY WHEN the PM or MINISTER is the WITNESS...
MEANTIME, the GOVERNMENT MUST GET the Full FACTS...
....OF HOW MANY COMPANIES HAVE SHUT DOWN OPERATIONS IN MALAYSIA
....WHERE have they MOVED TO
.....WHY have they STOPPED OPERATIONS IN Malaysia?
ANALYSE WHAT WERE THE PUSH FACTORS, which drove them to SHUT DOWN...AND , to add Insult to Injury...RE LOCATED ELSEWHERE!
THESE PUSH FACTORS can be Damning illustrations, of WHAT the Investors ALREADY OPERATING in Malaysia, find UNTENABLE ABOUT CONTINUING to Operate here.
There are PULL and PUSH FACTORS at work , to DETERMINE INVESTORS DECISIONS.
IT IS POINTLESS to TOUT the " would be investors" when THOSE ALREADY HERE ARE LEAVING
THERE MUST BE SERIOUS and detailed ANALYSIS of the PUSH and PULL FACTORS...
A BIRD IN HAND IS WORTH TWO that are STILL " flying around surveying " where to build THEIR NEST ...
GLOATING OVER BILLIONS OF MOUs Yet UNCONFIRMED, is just SHIOK SENDIRI "
INVESTORS will NEVER say they WILL NOT INVEST in MALAYSIA, especially when they meet the PM or Ministers...
Their responses would be along the lines of "GOD WILLING..." INSYAALLAH "...
MUCH BACKGROUND WORK NEEDS to be DONE , BEFORE MOUs are inked..
UNLESS THEY ARE DETAILED MOus
We MUST STRIVE to make MALAYSIA, THE LOCATION of CHOICE, FOR INVESTORS, BOTH DOMESTIC and FOREIGN.
My Comments
Well it looks like that ain't gonna happen.
550 pekerja akan hilang sumber pendapatan. Apakah gig economy pula akan mendapat penambahan 550 pekerja baru?
Orang kata 'sikit-sikit lama-lama jadi bukit'. Saya rasa bukit tu jadi dah. Bukit itu sudah cukup tinggi sampai dia orang tak boleh panjat dah. Kalau panjat pun, akan jatuh patah tengkok. Macam jambatan di Kota Baru tu.

Lebih senang playing field senget belah kami.
Kita kena pandai cakap omputih, tak reti.
Sekarang ramai cakap Mandarin, lagi tak reti.
Kalau okonomi biar monopoli.

Macam tu lah kita control okonomi.
Barang naik, barang mahal. Mampus pi.
Orang susah, orang Melayu susah. Mampus pi.
Tak ada duit? Nah - kami bagi charity.
Agenda 1990 awal lagi dah basi.
Agenda 2020 langsung tak jadi.
Takpe kita buat agenda lagi.
Setiap 10 tahun, 20 tahun sekali.
550 pekerjaan hilang? Mampus pi.
Kami dah sign MOU tadi.
