The Terengganu state government will take action against attempts to revive the deviant teachings of Ariffin Muhamad, better known as Ayah Pin.
Batu Buruk assemblyperson Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi said the state administration has been made aware of allegations that certain parties are trying to bring back the Sky Kingdom sect which shocked the nation nearly three decades ago.
"Information has been received and is being acted upon by the authorities," the state information, preaching and syariah empowerment committee chairperson told Bernama.
Earlier, a post on the Facebook account "Imam Muda Kulan" revealed that certain movements in the Besut area are reviving Ayah Pin’s teachings.
In 1997, the Fatwa Committee of the Terengganu Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (Maidam) issued a fatwa declaring the teachings deviant according to Section 25 of the Islamic Religious Administration Enactment 1986.

In April 2005, the Besut district Land Office issued notices to demolish several giant replicas at Ayah Pin’s headquarters.
Ayah Pin, who had over 150 followers, passed away on April 22, 2016, at 74 due to old age.
