Bodyguard injured in KLIA shooting regains consciousness

A bodyguard who was seriously injured during a shooting incident in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, last Sunday, and put in a medically induced coma regained consciousness yesterday.

His wife Siti Noraida Hassan, 38, confirmed that Muhammad Nur Hadith Zaini's (38) condition has improved at the Cyberjaya Hospital.

“He regained consciousness. His ventilator was removed and can breathe on his own and speak a little,” she told Bernama yesterday.

During the 1.30am incident in KLIA on April 14, a suspect, believed to be the husband of the bodyguard’s boss, fired two shots and one of the shots hit the bodyguard in the body.

The suspect managed to escape from the scene but was detained by police in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, on April 15.

The Magistrate’s Court in Kota Bharu had issued a remand order to detain the suspect for seven days (April 16 to 22) to assist police investigations.
