The interim report on the crash of two Royal Malaysian Navy helicopters in Lumut, Perak yesterday will be ready in two weeks, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi (above) said Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin committed to its delivery at the cabinet meeting.
“Today’s meeting began with an in-depth discussion about the navy helicopter crash that occurred yesterday.
“Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim extended his condolences, and the defence minister has committed that the interim report will be prepared in two weeks, while the full report will be published within a month from now,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya.
The coalition government spokesperson added that Khaled is expected to announce assistance to the families of the victims, as agreed by the cabinet.
“I ask my media friends to refer to the defence minister’s statement. InsyaAllah today, if not by this evening,” he said.
All 10 personnel on board the HOM (M503-3) helicopter and Fennec (M502-6) chopper were killed after the aircraft crashed at 9.32am yesterday during a rehearsal for the navy’s 90th anniversary parade.
