Perlis MB to 'explain' son's arrest in state assembly tomorrow

Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli will "explain" MACC’s detention of his son in tomorrow's state legislative assembly.

"I will answer in the dewan tomorrow. That's all (I can say)," he briefly told reporters after the state assembly sitting in Kangar, Perlis, today.

Asked about the MACC probe against his son, Shukri refused to comment.

"I don't want to comment. I leave it to the MACC's discretion," said the PAS leader.

Earlier today, it was reported that Shukri's son was among six individuals remanded to assist in an MACC investigation linked to the submission of false documents and claims involving RM600,000 over the past two years.

Magistrate Ana Rozana Mohd Nor granted the remand order for all suspects starting today until tomorrow following a request from the MACC to conduct investigations under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

According to sources, two civil servants from the MB's Office and the State Secretary's Office were also detained along with contractors and owners of various companies.

The case was being investigated for document forgery by making false claims when the project was not carried out.

The project involved maintenance, repair, supply, and service works from 2022 until now, estimated to be worth RM600,000. - Mkini
