KUALA LUMPUR: It was slow-going in some areas on several major highways this evening as traffic built up by 5pm as city folks started returning to their hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Malaysian highway authority said traffic flow at the North Klang Valley Expressway and Guthrie Corridor Expressway was under control.
A spokesman for highway operator PLUS said traffic was slow moving following two accidents between Lembah Beringin and Tanjung Malim (northbound), and between Nilai and Bandar Ainsdale (southbound).
“Traffic congestion was also reported from Simpang Renggam to Sedenak,” he said.
PLUS said several smartlanes have been activated northbound from Tapah to Gopeng, with the emergency lane open for use, and southbound from Ayer Keroh to Jasin. - FMT
