YOURSAY | ‘I thought you guys had already kissed and made up?’
Wee questions need to support DAP in KKB polls
Chefoo: MCA president Wee Ka Siong, if you are so righteous, why didn’t you leave the coalition government knowing that DAP is part of it?
This is not about DAP insulting you and your party. Your party members insult DAP too.
Don’t play the victim here. For me, it’s a simple matter of who is the champion of the Chinese community.
You can’t accept the fact that DAP is more accepted by the Chinese community.
MCA and MIC are not accepted today because you guys have been playing second fiddle to Umno since independence.
Did you dare to comment on Umno’s wrongdoings? Have you said anything about 1MDB? No.
But you will jump on an opportunity to hit out at DAP.
You even have the gall to say you want to perform the checks and balances on the government when you are part of it.
Where were your checks and balances while in government?
And I noticed your check and balance is only on ministries where DAP members are ministers.
You guys were enjoying the perks as ministers and appointments in government-linked companies (GLCs) too much to be bothered about the issues in your community.
If campaigning for DAP is such a sin, leave the coalition. Walk your talk man
IndigoToucan1627: BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should not force MCA to support DAP in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
Let MCA be. Its support, or lack of it, will not make a difference to the results. If truth be told, the government is made up of several parties.
It is quite evident that MIC and MCA are against it.
These two components of BN are being dragged kicking and screaming into the coalition government.
When they issue statements they sound like the opposition.
BlueShark1548: Yes MCA should stay away from Kuala Kubu Baharu.
DAP's objective is to nail MCA. So why allow Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to persuade you to support its candidate?
Let DAP prove that the Chinese support the current actions of the government.
Anwar and Umno are not likely to gain Malay support, so let Perikatan Nasional win with a convincing victory so that Anwar and DAP get the message that they should not take voters for granted.
Mazhilamani: Wee, your support and that of MCA’s are required as a team member of the coalition government. Not for any other reason.
Let people have their say. MCA and Gerakan had their time at the top.
Do some soul-searching to know and understand why MCA has come to this. DAP must have done some good to endear itself to the people.
It is also important for DAP to avoid the missteps of MCA and Gerakan. Nothing is safe or permanent.
MCA’s support is needed for a victory. Just be the team player MCA is expected to be. What joy would MCA receive if the seat is lost to the opposition?
YellowCat1156: I support Wee’s stand. Those who keep belittling MCA have probably forgotten that many have labelled DAP as MCA 2.0.
The DAP has itself said that give and take is needed when in a coalition or unity, as they call it, government.
Many say that both the MCA and MIC are irrelevant. I say both of you are not. All it needs is a wholesale change of the current Umno leadership (that may be difficult but doable) and BN can rise again.
Stick with your decision. DAP will win anyway.
Revolution99: I thought you guys had already kissed and made up? DAP's secretary-general, Anthony Loke, said he doesn’t like MCA on the Keluar Sekejap podcast.
That’s his personal preference. It doesn’t mean that is the party’s stand. Maybe both of you should meet up more to start afresh with more loving kindness to serve the 'rakyat'.
Wong Fei Hoong: Don’t tell me MCA has never bad-mouthed DAP.
They are now part of the same government and must work together for a common goal and not talk about when they were enemies.
Wee, please grow up unless you want the country to be run by PAS. If you want to boycott the election, please go ahead.
The rest of us will vote for this government’s candidate.
Milshah: Many will still back DAP even though DAP has been quiet on several issues lately.
I think the movement to boycott Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election will not work.
Wanting to teach DAP and Anwar a lesson is an empty threat. Support for DAP is still strong.
Hope: MCA should stay at home. Otherwise, the presence of MCA campaigners will be a big disadvantage to the DAP candidate.
The voters may think the DAP candidate is representing MCA, which is already viewed as in its sunset years in the minds of many Chinese.
RZee: Has anyone told Wee that DAP and MCA are part of the coalition government running our country?
Does he know this because the way he talks proves that he is ignorant of how things work? Does MCA want to fight with DAP or govern well?
Burung Gagak: If the heart is no longer there, then there is no need to beg. If MCA can't let go of the past, just let it be.
To stay relevant, they must encourage their members to have more babies. One-race parties are out of fashion already. - Mkini
