PETALING JAYA: The RM300 subsidy on domestic airfares for East Malaysian students in the peninsula and West Malaysians studying in Sabah and Sarawak resumes today, says the transport ministry.
The ministry said this only applies to students of public universities, polytechnics or community colleges under the higher education ministry, as well as matriculation colleges and teacher training institutes under the education ministry.
Students may check if they are eligible for the subsidy here.
“Students can request for the subsidy from one of the airlines involved, whether Malaysia Airlines (including MASwings and Firefly), AirAsia or Batik Air through their respective websites.
“If ineligible, students can submit an appeal to the higher education or education ministries through their educational institution,” it said in a statement.
Once the airlines have approved their applications, a RM300 digital voucher will be issued to the students for them to purchase flight tickets between West and East Malaysia.
Students have until Nov 30 to apply for the subsidy and up to Dec 31 to use the vouchers. The flights do not have to be within this timeframe. - FMT
