SENTUL police district headquarters have confirmed that celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, better known as Chef Wan is under investigation.
Reports suggested that he is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
The investigation was initiated following a police report by teacher A Rajeswari on Friday (May 24).
Last week, Chef Wan commented on a reel posted on an Instagram page named Namaste Bollywood that showed an Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a shimmery blue and silver gown.
The page had asked its followers to comment on the photo with the caption: “First thought that comes to mind.”
The outfit garnered a lot of reactions in the comment section including the likes of Chef Wan.
“She’s carrying Kavadi on herself heading to Batu Cave Thaipusam ceremony,” joked the celebrity chef in the comments.
Netizens were upset with the comment from Chef Wan, urging him to apologise and to remove the comment. – Focus Malaysia
