I will work for everyone in KKB, says Pang

 

Pakatan Harapan’s Pang Sock Tao said she will be a representative of all the people, regardless of background or political support.

PETALING JAYA: Pang Sock Tao, the newly-elected state assembly member for Kuala Kubu Baharu, declared after winning the by-election that she will be a representative of all the people, regardless of background or political support.

She also pledged to continue the work of the previous assembly member, the late Lee Kee Hiong, to develop the town and solve issues such as infrastructure problems.

“I am the representative of all the people in Kuala Kubu Bharu regardless of background,” she said after being declared the winner of the by-election.

She said she had been staying in Kuala Kubu Bharu during the campaign period. “I am now looking for a house and will live here,” she said. “What I will do from the first day of serving as a people’s representative is to listen to the people in Kuala Kubu Bharu and solve urgent problems.”

Pang won the by-election with a majority of 3,869 votes. She polled 14,000 votes, defeating Perikatan Nasional’s candidate Khairul Azhari Saut (10,131), Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin (152) and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin (188).

Khairul, who is Hulu Selangor Bersatu chief, thanked voters who backed him for their support and for carrying out their democratic responsibility. He said he will continue to serve the people of Kuala Kubu Bharu despite losing the by-election. - FMT
