KKB polls: Pakatan ahead by 3,000 votes, according to unofficial count

 

EC officials carrying ballot boxes into the vote-counting centre.

PETALING JAYA: As at 7pm, Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao has taken the lead in the early stages of vote-counting, according to unofficial results.

7.27pm: (Unofficial) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (6,302 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (3,549); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (80) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin (58).

Total votes counted: 9,989 (25%).

7.15pm: (Unofficial) Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao (4,897 votes); Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut (2,368); Independent Nyau Ke Xin (52) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin (33).

Total votes counted: 7,350 (19%).

7pm: Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao has garnered 3,078 votes as of 7pm with 4,300 votes counted, according to unofficial results.

Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut has 1,181 votes, Independent Nyau Ke Xin (27) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia Hafizah Zainuddin (14).

6.35pm: 916 ballots of candidates have been counted, most who participated in early voting, with Pang garnering 693 votes, while Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut received 221 votes.

Hafizah Zainuddin from Parti Rakyat Malaysia and Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin have received one vote each.

Ballot are still being counted at the vote-tallying centre at the Hulu Selangor Multipurpose Hall and District Sports Complex.

On May 7, 97% or 769 police and military personnel as well as their spouses fulfilled their responsibility as early voters in the by-election.

According to the Election Commission, the KKB constituency has 40,226 registered voters comprising 39,362 ordinary voters, 625 policemen, 238 military personnel, as well as their spouses and one overseas absentee voter. - Star
