Selangor state executive councillor Ng Sze Han said the two companies selected for a new demand-responsive transit (DRT) system under the Selangor Mobility initiative were chosen after a thorough process.
This comes after questions were raised about one of the companies selected, Asia Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd, which is helmed by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh’s husband, Ramachandran Muniandy.
“Both companies received approvals from the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) and relevant federal regulators,” said Ng (above) in a statement, who is in charge of the investment, trade and mobility portfolio.
Ng mentioned that Apad approved Asia Mobility Technologies’ proof of concept on Dec 22, 2022. The other company, Badan Bas Coach Sdn Bhd received it on Feb 24 last year.
He added that Asia Mobility Technologies, with Badan Bas Coach, had presented their application satisfactorily to the state transport committee, adding Apad’s approval also played a role in the consideration.
Both companies received their letters of intent on June 15 last year, followed by a letter of appointment on Sept 20.
“The state government wants to comply with the standards set by the authorities to ensure the safety of passengers,” Ng added. - Mkini
