PETALING JAYA: National women’s squash champion S Sivasangari has reached a career-high World No 10 in the latest women’s Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour rankings.
She is the first Malaysian since Nicol David and Low Wee Wern to reach the top 10 of the women’s PSA Tour rankings.
The Kedah-born Sivasangari, 25, moved up one spot from 11th, a feat which the London Classic champion attributed to her team’s strong backing.
“This would have been impossible without the support of my incredible team who have pushed me, encouraged me, and stayed by me through my highs and lows.
“(I am) more determined than ever to keep pushing and enjoy every step of the process,” she said in a Facebook post.
Sivasangari was honoured as the Athlete of the Month for April by The World Games in recognition of her achievement at the inaugural London Classic, where she emerged champion by defeating top-ranked players last month.
The PSA World Tour also named Sivasangari as its Player of the Month for April.
In the men’s PSA Tour ranking, Ng Eain Yow also achieved a career-best ranking by moving up three spots to No 15. - FMT
