DAP has strongly condemned the death threat made against party vice-chairperson Teresa Kok.
Its secretary-general Anthony Loke stressed that elements of violence are unacceptable in society, especially when it comes to differences of political opinions.
"The entire DAP leadership stands in solidarity with Kok in the face of this threat.
“I am grateful to the police, who acted quickly after receiving the police report.
"I am confident that the police will investigate the case thoroughly and arrest those responsible for the crime,” he said in a statement today.
This came after Kok received a death threat last night when she discovered an envelope enclosed with a letter which also contained a racist insult, and two bullets in her home mailbox.
The Seputeh MP reported the matter to the police who are investigating the case under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication, which provides for a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both.
Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil also condemned the incident calling it a “shameful” act. - Mkini
