Wan Fayhsal refers Loke to privileges committee for ‘misleading’ Dewan

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal says Loke Siew Fook’s statement in Parliament gave the impression he was making ‘wild allegations’.
PETALING JAYA: An opposition MP has referred transport minister Loke Siew Fook to the Dewan Rakyat’s privileges committee for allegedly misleading the house over Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) stake being sold to a foreign firm.

Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal of Bersatu also accused Loke of issuing a malicious statement when he (Wan Fayhsal) raised the issue.

“I’ve been proven right,” Wan Fayhsal said In a post on X tonight, alluding to news reports that Khazanah Nasional and EPF had confirmed their plan to take over MAHB through a consortium and privatise the airport operator.

“It’s only the fanatical Pakatan Harapan and DAP supporters who are denying it,” he said.

In March, Loke told the Dewan Rakyat that Wan Fayhsal’s claims about a stake in MAHB being sold to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a company wholly owned by BlackRock, were “merely an assumption”.

In his post, Wan Fayshal said “merely an assumption” gave the impression that he was making “wild allegations”.

Last week, it was reported that Khazanah will be increasing its ownership in MAHB from 33.2% to 40%, and EPF from 7.9% to 30%. Collectively, Malaysian investors would own 70% of MAHB.

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and GIP will hold the remaining 30%.

In January, the New York City-based BlackRock, one of the world’s largest asset management companies holding shares in several defence industry enterprises, agreed to acquire GIP.

In its criticism of the sale, the opposition has accused BlackRock of owning a stake in companies that manufacture arms which enable Israel to continue its genocide against the Palestinian people.

On Friday, Loke insisted he did not mislead the Dewan Rakyat. He said he stood by his statement, and that Wan Fayhsal had incorrect information.

“He (Wan Fayhsal) said we were selling (our stake). We are not. Khazanah will increase its stake in MAHB,” he said. - FMT
