PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a continuous rain warning for four states in the northern peninsula, namely Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak.
"Based on the weather forecast analysis, the wind concentration that occurs in the northern peninsula and west of Sabah is expected to continue until Sept 21," it said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 17).
MetMalaysia said that the situation would cause thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds in these areas as well as strong winds and rough seas in the waters of the South China Sea and the North Malacca Strait.
MetMalaysia added that other states could expect thunderstorms and strong winds throughout the week.
"The public is advised to refer to the MetMalaysia website at www.met.gov.my, follow its social media accounts or download the myCuaca app for the latest news," it added.
In an update at 10pm on Tuesday, MetMalaysia noted that thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in several districts in Perak including Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim, as well as Pahang districts such as Cameron Highlands and Lipis until 1am on Wednesday.
