The retail price of RON97 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will drop by six sen, to RM3.19 and RM2.95 per litre respectively, from tomorrow until Sept 25.
The Finance Ministry, in a statement today, said the price drop for RON97 and diesel in the peninsula is in line with the recent drop in global crude oil prices and the strengthening of the ringgit.
It said the retail price of diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, however, will remain unchanged, at RM2.15 per litre, while the retail price of RON95 petrol will also remain at RM2.05 per litre.
The prices are based on the weekly retail pricing of petroleum products, set using the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
“Since Aug 8, the government has reduced the price of diesel in the peninsula by 40 sen, while the retail price of RON97 petrol was dropped by 28 sen.
“The government will continue to monitor the market development and coordinate the retail price of petroleum products taking into account the trends of global crude oil prices, and take appropriate measures to ensure the welfare and well-being of the people continue to be preserved,” the ministry said.
