Suspected drug mule held at Penang airport

Police arrested a man in possession of 40kg of cannabis buds, valued at RM3.2 million, in a raid at Penang International Airport in Bayan Lepas on Oct 18.

The drugs were allegedly being smuggled to London, Bernama quoted Penang police chief Dennis Lim as saying.

Lim said the 28-year-old suspect, from Miri, Sarawak, was apprehended at the airport’s waiting area after the drugs were discovered during an inspection of his luggage.

He said the man claimed that he was asked by an individual to transport the drugs to London.

“The suspect allegedly acted as a courier, receiving a payment of RM9,000 for the trip,” he said. - FMT
