Dear DPM, all work and no play makes Tenang's Azahar a dull boy

BN’s Deputy chairman Muhyiddin Yassin described the coalition's candidate for the Tenang by-election, Mohd Azahar Ibrahim, as a hard-working person.

He said, “I was told that Azahar sleeps for only one or two hours every day. From the body language and manner of speech of the locals, I have gathered that they have confidence in BN.”

No wonder this country is slipping in the world’s ranking for most things. Someone who lacks sleep and sounds like he is suffering from a serious case of insomnia is BN’s preferred candidate? Was he selected because he is awake for 22-23 hours per day?

Muhyiddin gauges the people’s acceptance of BN from the ‘language and manner of speech of the locals’. I too would be all smiles and happy only if I were given RM 100 to wear a free-T-shirt and other freebies.

If BN selected Azahar because he spends more time awake than asleep then something is very wrong with BN’s selection criteria.

Perhaps Azahar is over-stretching himself because he does not know how to balance his work and life. Perhaps he has to work overtime because he is not efficient and cannot complete his work at the office. Perhaps he spends his time watching too much TV.

Maybe he has other nocturnal occupations?

Muhyiddin said, “When I introduced Azahar to them, many replied that they already knew him because of his family background. I also believe that the voters, whether Malay, Chinese or Indian, will go for Azahar.”

What Muhyiddin said is priceless! He gets first prize for empty and meaningless talk. Is this Deputy prime minister material?

If he got to his position as the country’s number two, then he must be one of the better ones in government. So, one really does wonder what the rest are like.

Muhyiddin said that Pas and its allies were desperate in their attempts to discredit Azahar.

He said, “The opposition has been searching high and low for Azahar's mistakes and faults but have not found any. We have already vetted Azahar thoroughly. Otherwise, we would not have fielded him. Azahar is completely clean and the best candidate.”

So would Muhyiddin like to tell us Azahar’s exemplary qualities (apart from his ability to stay awake) which made him BN’s best choice for Tenang?

Muhyiddin then said that Pakatan felt so “pressured” that it resorted to spreading slander about Azahar. The funny thing is that I have not seen any mud being slung at Azahar.

He said, “In many cases, however, voters always know what is true and what is not. They are not easily deceived.”

That is true as Muhyiddin found to his cost.

When BN orchestrated the moves to discredit the PAS candidate Normala, the backlash against MCA and BN was enough to make Muhyiddin call off his pack of dogs Chua Soi Lek and Ng Yen Yen. But the damage to BN had already been done. - Malaysia Chronicle
