KUALA LUMPUR -- A man who was suspected to have burnt more than 23 luxury cars in Sentul during the past two weeks, died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, here today.
A police source informed Bernama that the suspect died at 12.15pm due to injuries believed to have been sustained after falling from a motorcycle.
However, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh, yesterday, denied allegations that a 42-year-old suspect, who was detained to assist police in investigations into the car burning cases, had been seriously injured following a assaults by the authorities and the public.
The suspect was arrested on March 24 while riding a motorcycle at Kampung Puah junction, Sentul here.
The burning of luxury cars including the Skoda Octavia, BMW 523i, Kia Sorento and Honda Accord had been on the rise in the city when at least 23 cases were reported.
On March 23, four cars were torched around Sentul including one in Titiwangsa.
