PKR has several potential candidates in mind to replace Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor menteri besar should Pakatan Rakyat retain the state in the May 5 general election, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said today.
Even so, she defended Khalid (centre in photo), whom she said performed well in the post throughout Pakatan’s administration of the state.
“We have several capable leaders but not as many as BN (to replace the MB).
“Based on his achievements, he (Khalid) did a good job. But we also have a committee that will decide who will be menteri besar, Wan Azizah said.
She said this when asked to comment on the MB's post, following her announcement that she would not contest in any seat in the May 5 general election in order to concentrate her efforts on campaigning.
“No (I will not contest). I will campaign to the end,” she said.

Wan Azizah is barred from contesting in a parliamentary seat after vacating Permatang Pauh MP in 2008, within months of being elected, to make way for her husband, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to contest in the resulting by-election.
Her announcement has erased speculation that she would contest in a Selangor state seat and possibly take over as menteri besar.
Several other PKR leaders are also said to be eyeing the post, including deputy president Azmin Ali (right).
It also left many questioning, as Khalid himself is yet to announce which state seat he would be contesting in.
Party insiders have said Khalid would be hard pressed to retain his Ijok state seat, which he won with a 1,920-vote majority against Umno’s Mohamed Sayuti Said in 2008, should he choose to defend it.
There has also been talk that Khalid may be fielded in Port Klanginstead.
However, Khalid confirmed last night that he would be defending his Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat.
Selangor PKR is due to release it full list of candidates on Sunday.
