MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek left out in the upcoming general election showed that the party's decisions were dictated by Umno, said DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.
Lim said that by dropping Chua from MCA's line-up, BN chairperson and Umno president Najib Abdul Razak, who has the final say on the coalition's candidates, had also showed the MCA's irrelevance.
"If Chua is not fit to be a BN candidate in the GE13, how then can he be fit and qualified to be the MCA president, sitting in the highest decision-making councils of the BN and government?" Lim queried, in a press release today.

Najib is clearly fearful that Chua's candidature on the BN ticket will ensure the realisation of the most famous RAHMAN political prophecy that he will be the last Umno/BN prime minister
Lim said that Najib has no right to stop Chua for being fielded as a BN candidate should they consider him to truly be an "equal" in the BN supreme council and the BN administration's economic planning council.

'Great injustice'
He noted that Najib's predecessors would not have done the same to Chua's predecessors and prevent them from contesting, nor would MCA impose a veto on any Umno candidate.
Describing the episode as a "great injustice", Lim said Umno had no business vetoing MCA's candidates.
"Najib is clearly fearful that Chua's candidature on the BN ticket will ensure the realisation of the most famous RAHMAN political prophecy with him as the last Umno/BN prime minister," he said.
Lim also criticised Chua for claiming that his decision not to be fielded was to "prove a point that I am fighting for a cause, that MCA remains relevant".
He said that this was illogical because the Umno president had now made it clear that the MCA president is too "irrelevant, unqualified and unsuitable" to be fielded as a BN candidate.
