The Election Commission (EC) said it is still mulling whether it would take legal action against Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli for  his allegations on the indelible ink supplier for the 13th general election.

“Never mind if (Rafizi) wants to say it during the fasting month, let him face the consequences.

He was asked to respond to Rafizi’s allegation in Parliament that he and his chief Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof had close ties with the supplier of the indelible ink for the last general election, which many voters had later complained was easily removed.

Rafizi later repeated his allegation outside the Parliament, without the benefit of parliamentary immunity from legal action.

“These (claims) are absolutely untrue and I consider it a slander and a lie. Even in the fasting month, he says things like that,” Wan Omar lamented.

He reiterated that neither he nor Abdul Aziz deal with procurement directly. Instead, the task is entrusted to the secretariat and EC secretary Kamaruddin Baria, he said.

“(They) follow the treasury’s instructions exactly. Every officer is accountable,” he added.-malaysiakini
