PAS leaders in Terengganu have expressed great concern on the frequent building collapses recorded in the state that already earned the state a bad nickname dubbed “Darul Runtuh.”
The nickname was given by non-other than Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said himself following the latest collapse of the Kampung Tebauk mosque in Kuala Nerus last September.
Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad, Kuala Terengganu Member of Parliament and Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi, Batu Burok assemblyman pointed that there were at least 15 incidents of building collapses in Terengganu since 2008.
They asked whether the incidents were due to hiring unqualified crony contractors that obtained the contracts through the ‘know who’ basis.
"Are there elements of abuse of power and corruption under this state administration recently?" they was quoted saying by news portal Malaysiakini.
Bahrin and Syed Azman also warned that the “Darul Runtuh” trend would continue until “existing laws and the rule of good governance can be practised.”
