IGP: Sufficient funds for all depts

The top cop, nevertheless, promises to look into the woes faced by his men in the course of carrying out their daily duties and responsibilities.
SEPANG: Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar today denied that the police force was facing financial and management problems as revealed in a series of reports by FMT.
Speaking at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport this morning, Khalid said each department in the police force has been given sufficient funds to be managed.
“You should have asked the officer in charge of logistics. As far as I’m concerned, there are enough funds for all departments,” said Khalid.
“However, we will take necessary action to manage the budget better. I will make sure that my men’s welfare is taken care of,” said Khalid.
Khalid also refuted claims that his officers weren’t allowed to make claims for petrol and other essentials as highlighted in FMT’s special reports.
“I’m not sure if the officers you interviewed are aware of the allowances we provide or they just weren’t informed that such allowances exist.
“We have what we call ‘elaun gantian motorsikal’ for those who use their own vehicles. So such claims do not make any sense,” he added.
Thank you, FMT
However, Khalid acknowledged the effort made by FMT in attempting to highlight the plight of his officers, but he insisted that questions should have been posed to the relevant officer.
“I have to thank you for highlighting such stories, at least we are aware of what is happening now but I you should have talked to the authorised police officer in the first place.”
Last week, in a special budget report, FMT highlighted the difficulties faced by police officers during their daily working hours.
Several officers attached to different stations in the Klang Valley claimed money allocated for the force did not trickle down to the departments, forcing them to cough up their own money to get jobs done.
Other officers also said that they had to use their own vehicles to complete their daily rounds as the patrol cars provided by the government were not available as they were in state of disrepair.
