MP dares police to charge him over Zahid's remark

DAP’s Segambut parliamentarian Lim Lip Eng today dared police to drag him to court over his allegedly false report against Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s ‘shoot first’ remarks.

NONEIn a press conference today, Lim (centre in photo) said he had lodged a police report over Zahid’s remark last Monday, in which he demanded that the latter be investigated for possible offences.

“Shahidan Kassim had claimed that he never heard Zahid make such a remark, and Zahid had also said his remark referred to Penang’s shooting case, and that his statement was taken out of context.

With the two VIPs’ remarks, Lim said, his police report may be deemed an offence by the authority, in which he may be charged in court.

“I now urge the police to drag me to court for giving a false statement, under Section 177 of the Penal Code,” he said.

“If found guilty, I would be eating nasi lemak for two years,” he said jokingly.
“It’s either me or Zahid who had made a false statement, so it’s either charge me or charge him,” he said.

In his police report, Lim said he had named a few possible offences Zahid may have committed over his speech at the security function last week.

He had urged Zahid to be investigated under harbouring offences, where the latter admitted his friendship with Tiga Line, one of the 49 secret societies blacklisted under Ops Cantas Khas by the police.

Lim, however, said he would not surrender himself as he deemed such an act as a waste of petrol costs.
