New rates for AES summons BUT WILL INCREASE CUMULATIVELY

New rates for AES summons BUT WILL INCREASE CUMULATIVELY
PUTRAJAYA - The new rates for the Automated Enforcement System (AES) summons will increase cumulatively effective Sept 18 and summons can be paid beginning today since the system was not in place last month.
Road Transport Department (RTD) director-general Datuk Ismail Ahmad said that this is according to "the more you delay, the more you pay" policy.
"All AES summons before Sept 18 will follow the old rates of RM300 for both speeding and traffic light related offences.
"But the government will later decide the next course of action for summons prior to Sept 18," he told a press conference at the RTD headquarters here today.
The new rates for exceeding the speed limit and beating the red light will be RM150 for the first 14 days, increasing to RM200 after 15 days and RM300 after 30 days.
He said the rates will be fixed at RM300 if one is caught exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h from the given limit.
