PROFESSIONALS FORGET IT, FAMILY ONLY! Sons of Isa Samad, Hasan Malek vie of Youth posts

PROFESSIONALS FORGET IT, FAMILY ONLY! Sons of Isa Samad, Hasan Malek vie of Youth posts
ONE should rely on one's own ability  to  move up the party hierarchy, said two young Umno leaders who are contesting for  Umno Youth executive council posts  on Saturday.
Mohd Najib Mohd Isa, 35, the son of party veteran Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, said his decision to contest was because he wanted to contribute to Umno.
"It is to continue serving the party. It just so happens that my father is a politician," said Najib, who holds a degree in accountancy and finance.
Najib's first foray into politics was in 1999 when he became Bagan Pinang branch Umno Youth chief.
In 2004, he won the Teluk Kemang Umno division Youth deputy chief post.
On Saturday, Najib is contesting for the Umno Youth executive council post.
His father is contesting for the Umno vice-president post on Oct 19.
"One of the main challenges which Umno faces now is the need for the party to satisfy its members. The party must address the people's perception of Umno in face of the next general election which is being done with the current political transformation," said Najib.
Adly Effendi Hasan, 37, who is contesting for Kuala Pilah division Umno Youth vice chief post, said his foray into politics was, in a way following in the footsteps of his father, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Hasan Malek.
"It is not so much about following his footsteps. It is more of following up on a good thing. I followed because I understand Umno's political struggle. It is not wrong to do a good thing and continue that struggle," said Adly whose first foray was in 2003, holding the post of Umno Kuala Jemapoh branch Youth chief.
Adly, a finance degree graduate, had also held the post of Kuala Pilah division Youth committee member in 2004 before taking a five-year sabbatical leave.
Adly said he is passionate about helping youth at the grassroots level left out from the plans announced by Umno Youth at Federal level.
Adly's father is vying for Umno Supreme Council member seat.
