ROS probe unnecessary, Khairy tells DAP

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar has dodged urgings for the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to probe alleged irregularities in Umno's wing elections, calling the problems "isolated cases".

NONE"At this point, I feel we have not reached the stage where we need to involve the ROS.

"Never mind, let's see what we come up with.

"There are not that many cases (ofirregularities), probably isolated ones only," he told the media after a korban event at the National Sports Council hostel in Bukit Jalil today.
He added that party members should hand the matter over to the Umno election committee for investigation.

Khairy was responding to DAP's urging that ROS probe Umno to show that the department was not one-sided in its actions against DAP's central executive committee election.
DAP: ROS must prove itself

A number of irregularities were reported after last week's Umno wings elections: at Petaling Jaya South division women's wing in Selangor and Kedah's Merbok Youth division, voting papers were alleged to number more than the representatives registered to vote on polling day.

In Seremban, six youth branches disqualified from voting six months ago managed to vote. In Baling and Sabak Bernam, the election for Wanita head and Puteri head respectively had to be postponed due to missing voting papers.
Worse, 14 newly-elected committee members of the KalabakanWanita Umno division have decided to resign, citing irregularities in the election held last Saturday, forcing a re-election.
In response to the reports, DAP said ROS needed to prove it was impartial and held no sinister political motives in insisting on DAP's CEC re-election.
ROS forced DAP to re-elect its CEC refusing to cite the requisite laws to back its actions, after the party admitted a tabulation error in its CEC elections last December, that DAP subsequently rectified and audited.
