The wife of PM Najib promotes charitable works that do not run on ethnicity but rather for mutual success

PETALING JAYA: A charity carnival is not only an ideal setting and meeting point to foster closer ties but also an important demonstration of racial harmony and national cohesion, said Rosmah Mansor, wife of the prime minister.

She said working together and doing charitable work were a manifestation of togetherness and unity.

“While we live in a multiracial society, it is pertinent to remember that we should not be defined by our ethnicity but rather that we are enriched by it.

“So, it is extremely important that we, irrespective of race, support one another for mutual success,” she said in her speech at the Mid-Autumn Togetherness Carnival at the Sunway Lagoon Club, here, today.

The text of her speech was read out by the President of the Alliance of Women Non-Government Organisations (NGO) Malaysia, Susan Cheah.

Rosmah praised all parties which participated in the carnival, saying it was a true demonstration of togetherness.

“By working together to raise funds to enable those in need to have access to education, you are truly sending a good example to other Malaysians,” she said.

More than 100 NGOs participated in the Mid-Autumn Togetherness Carnival which aimed to raise funds for education.
